This new video of mine is a tribute to the magic of sunlight and its mysterious language. Nearly all of images in which light is the subject were recorded in my apartment after work during the early evening. My apartment is special in that way, because of the glorious warm light that comes in between the branches of my neighbors redwood tree, through my window, and dances along my walls. I believe that there are messages inside the movement of the light, as if it’s telling a story or singing a song.
I recorded the music for this video in Ableton Live. I chose chimes with delay and reverb because I felt it went well with the bokeh-like effect of the light artifacts. I’m using an acoustic guitar for several other layers of the tune as well, and the synth stabs are Reason. TR-808 drum machine with triplet timing. Thanks for clicking!

I would really like to see more wind turbines in San Francisco. I think this house in the Mission District is a stunning example of what is possible.

Below are a few portraits out in the sunlight. This particular series is meant to showcase the light that I found in friends and the magic of the outdoors as a conduit for photography and storytelling. Thanks for clicking!
Leelah was a friend of mine back in Tallahassee who shared my taste for trouble. Living in a place such as Tallahassee is difficult in that you are forced to adopt a way of life that seems so un-dynamic. Those on the fringe had to create their own ways of keeping entertained, and sometimes this resulted in swimming upstream in the antiquated Southern channels. At the same time, when at peace, visits to Florida’s finest offerings such as the Wakulla River were part of the magic of our adventures, while they lasted.
Mina was a very lovely girl who had an augmented sense of feelings. She was a talented sketch artist and a dancer. She struggled with the waking life and in her day to day dreamed of being somewhere else. She did not know how to receive as she was only concerned with giving to others. We lost Mina last Winter as she decided to exit this world via the Golden Gate Bridge.
Travis is a very cool dude that I went to college with at UCF in Orlando, FL. He is a very talented musician and overall friend of the arts. Travis is also a friend to gender bending and questions gender roles and other age old constructs. He is a true thinker.
Jozie T is the best friend of Jozie O, who is the lovely Swedish girl that I had the privilege to get to know whilst she was studying photography in San Francisco. Jozie O moved back to Sweden, but Jozie T remains, as she married a Rochester man who decided to go west.

Cameras are great for capturing duckfaces at our favorite bars. We know this. Less known is the awesome power of light itself as a subject, and that is the focus of this weird little video that I threw together relatively quickly tonight after work. Enjoy! Oh, and thank you for clicking.

Some photos from a recent trip to the Theme Park up in Valejo. Enjoy!
This montage consists of three layers. The characters that appear here are Victorian die cuts. I picked them up in Santa Cruz from a street vendor who claimed that the copyrights on the cuts are long-expired. Die cuts are amazing. I think each of the characters are handmade from hundreds of individual dots that come together to create the image. Another layer here is a photo of paint on glass at Blue Front Cafe on Haight St. The third layer is the Victorian architecture, which is roughly at Frederick and Ashbury. It’s that strange Victorian charm that brings it all together, for me. Thanks for clicking!

San Francisco has a lot of flavor as we all know. There are some definite characters about. This series is dedicated to acknowledging that fact, and also to the idea that there is a lot of beauty in the quirkiness of the people of SF. Just check out these characters…

I recorded this track with the intent of using a lot of reverb guitar, arp, acoustic strumming, xylophone, and march-style percussion on the snare. Please feel free to comment, and feel free to download this track as well.

One thing I love about this new site is that it gives me an opportunity to go back through my library and organize photos into different series, and then I can type up a little blurb about each one. In my opinion it’s really a lot better to have some supporting text to accompany the art. It would also pretty much rule if we could get some more conversation flowing here.
That being said, what do you think of these images? Are you into SF’s modern architecture? Maybe you favor the Victorians and their charm. I like both. Lately I’ve been more into the modern stuff because I live in an old Victorian house and I’m now craving a change. I would love to live in a modern loft apartment one day. I love the huge windows and I imagine if you could get an apartment facing west it would invite a lot of amazing sunlight into the unit.
For the photos with black skies, I felt it helped to bring out the austere quality of the structures. These are not nighttime shots. One of the black sky images was published in 7×7 magazine for their 2009 neighborhoods issue. It was on the first page of their SoMA spread. It was nice to be published, but I don’t really like 7×7 magazine and I find it to be a bit too bourgey. Anyways, check out the images. You can click on the first one and just use the arrows on your keyboard to navigate through this short series. Thank you for clicking!
